When nine brave souls left Plymouth in 1968 for a round-the-world sailing race, they had no idea of what lay ahead. One of them lost his mind, one sank, many retired and just one crossed the finishing line. What they all had in common, though, was determination, persistence and a complete lack of Gore Tex. It hadn’t been invented yet, so they wore oilskins and sailing sweatshirts. These were Henri Lloyd sweatshirts, as we know for sure that Sir Robin Knox Johnson, the winner of the race, wore Henri Lloyd oilskins during his voyage. So if you’re looking for a yachting sweater, or even a few sail racing sweatshirts, then look no further. And the best part is, you don’t have to be sailing around the world, or even sailing at all!
